Come Hungry. Leave with a Taste of Romania.
What would a Romanian picnic be without the smell of mici sizzling on the grill? Our volunteers are preparing some of the foods that generations of Romanians have enjoyed at family gatherings and community celebrations.
On the Menu
🔥 Romanian BBQ
- Mici – traditional Romanian grilled meat rolls
- Grilled sausages
- Bread and mustard
- Pickled cabbage and pickles
🥙 Fresh Langoși
One of our picnic favourites — freshly prepared Romanian-style fried flatbread (beavertail).
🍰 Homemade Romanian Desserts
Discover a selection of homemade cakes and sweets prepared by members of our community.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event, while supplies last.

More Than a Picnic
Romanian hospitality is about more than food. It is about sitting around a table, sharing stories, meeting new people and enjoying time together. Throughout the afternoon, we hope to share a little of that spirit with our guests through Romanian music and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

Our church is home to Ottawa’s Romanian Orthodox community and reflects the beauty of the Orthodox Christian tradition through its architecture, icons and sacred art. Subject to availability, short church visits or guided introductions will be offered during the afternoon.
Visitors of all backgrounds are welcome.
Bring the Kids!
This is a family event, and children are welcome. We are planning simple children’s activities so parents can enjoy the picnic while younger visitors have something fun to do.

The Romanian Fall Picnic will take place rain or shine.

Join us outside for a traditional community picnic with BBQ, food, music and plenty of time to enjoy the day.

We’re still having the picnic!
Activities and seating will move indoors to our Social Hall as appropriate, while food preparation will be adapted to weather and safety conditions.
